The province of Quebec has expanded their list of essential businesses to include garden centres and landscaping services.
Announced by Québec Vert today, greenhouses, nurseries and garden centres will be able reopen their doors to the public starting April 15, 2020. Landscaping services and related activities will also resume April 15.
Preventative public health measures must first be put into place. Québec Vert says specific measures tailored towards each sector of horticulture will first be approved by the provincial government, then communicated to their members, before activities will resume.
Previously, ornamental horticulture was not deemed essential by the province. This decision was eventually overturned at the end of March, but did not include garden centres.
