Energy-wise urban greenhouse development growing
August 2, 2012 By Treena Hein

BrightFarms recently announced a deal with the A&P grocery chain to provide it year-round with New York City-grown vegetables from the company’s (and the country’s) largest hydroponic rooftop greenhouse. This is one of many urban greenhouse developments sprouting up across the US, Canada and beyond.
Roof-top greenhouses use building heat for efficiency, and also incorporate other energy-efficient features. For more on the expansion of these greenhouses, visit here.
Energy Edge will soon feature details on Lufa Farms’ expansion of urban greenhouses and details on their Montreal rooftop operation.
