First greenhouse gets platinum LEED rating
The Center for Sustainable Landscapes at Phipps Conservatory and Public Gardens in Pittsburgh has received a platinum LEED rating for environmental friendliness — making it the first greenhouse or botanical garden to receive the certification.
Built in 2006, the center received this platinum rating from the U.S. Green Building Council for water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, use of materials and resources and indoor environmental quality.
