Syngenta acquires Floranova
July 31, 2018 By Greenhouse Canada

Syngenta has recently acquired Floranova, a flower and home garden vegetable seed breeder.
Originally founded in the UK 40 years ago, Floranova has a customer base that reaches the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Their portfolio and international presence is expected to help reach fast-growing markets, including China and India
“Floranova’s complementary seeds offer covers some important gaps in Syngenta’s portfolio and brings flower seed crops like Pelargonium, Petunia, Begonia and a distinctive product line of patio vegetables, sold under the Vegetalis label,” says Michael Kester, Head of Flowers at Syngenta.
Syngenta serves both professional growers and retailers in the landscape and consumer garden segment, with headquarters and seed processing facilities based in Enkhuizen, Netherlands.
Syngenta and Floranova will continue to operate as independent companies, with their own distribution and portfolios, according to Kester.
