Sawaya to host first annual garden mum trials

Garden mum growers looking to see new varieties are in luck.

Sawaya Gardens is hosting its first annual garden mum trial and open house on Sept. 15 from 8am to 4pm.

Organizer and greenhouse consultant, Melhem Sawaya has been running new variety container trials for over 20 years, which were relocated to their new location in Waterford, Ont. this year.

The garden mum trial and open house will be a first.

The event will showcase the performance of close to 400 different varieties of mums produced outdoors. Planted week 25, Sawaya says attendees can gauge which new varieties are ready by Sept 15, comparing across sizes and habits.
