Nov. 27, 2012, Rivière-du-Loup, Que. — Premier Tech Home and Garden (PTHG), a business unit of Premier Tech, has signed a strategic alliance with Juniper Organics Limited (JOL), a New Brunswick-based subsidiary of Canadian company J.D. Irving Limited.

The agreement combines the skills and strategic assets of the two companies.

J.D. Irving Limited is developing its peat bogs in Juniper, New Brunswick, and was looking for a partner that could provide both the technologies and skills required to produce soils, and also provide access to the Maritimes gardening retail market.

Under these conditions, Premier Tech was an ideal partner, since PTHG is a Canadian leader in this market, while another of its business units, Premier Tech Chronos, is the world leader in the design and construction of soil production plants.

JOL began production at the new facility in August and employs 12 people. The company plans to grow both these markets and employment on the site as it undertakes its first supply of quality gardening products to the market this coming spring.

“Such an alliance between two renowned Canadian companies once more highlights the convergence and strategic complementarities of Premier Tech’s various business groups,” explained Jean Bélanger, Premier Tech’s president and chief operating officer.
