Jan. 15, 2014, Niagara Falls — Canada’s largest horticulture and agricultural tradeshow and conference, the Canadian Greenhouse Conference (CGC), returned for its third successful year at the Scotiabank Convention Centre (SCCN).

The two-day event took place on Oct. 9-10 and welcomed nearly 2,500 attendees and exhibitors from across Canada and the United States who were busily engaged in workshops, demonstrations, tradeshows, and educational sessions led by national and international guest speakers.

“The 2013 event proved to be a great success for the organizers, the Centre and the community,” said Jeff Dixon, SCCN interim general manager, referring to the record high attendance the CGC enjoyed.

“With continuous record attendance, year after year, the CGC generates significant impact into our local community,” added Dixon. “This year alone the CGC brought in close to $3 million in economic impact to Niagara.”

It only seem appropriate to have welcomed the CGC in the same month the Scotiabank Convention Centre was awarded LEED Silver Certification by the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC).

Although the facility was designed built to achieve LEED Silver Certification, it was up to the tireless efforts of the team at the SCCN to make it a reality. After two years of continuous revisions and auditing of its green and eco-friendly operations, the CaGBC recognized the SCCN with the distinguished certification.

The CGC started over 30 years ago and has been held at a number of locations across Ontario, but it has been at the SCCN where it has enjoyed its most successful years.

“Our team takes great pride in being part of our clients’ success and we look forward to welcoming the CGC again next year for another even bigger success,” said Jeff Dixon.
