Applications open for Newfoundland & Labrador’s Agrifoods Assistance Program
May 9, 2022 By Newfoundland & Labrador Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture
Applications for the 2022-23 Provincial Agrifoods Assistance Program are now open to support existing farmers and new entrants to the province’s agriculture and agrifoods sectors. The deadline to apply is June 2, 2022.
The Provincial Agrifoods Assistance Program has two streams, focusing on land development and agriculture infrastructure. Projects must support food self-sufficiency, increase agricultural growth and secondary processing, and generate employment. Eligible applicants must have reported a minimum of $15,000 in eligible agriculture sales in one of the last three years, or qualify as a new entrant. To encourage and support new farmers in the industry, new entrants can qualify for up to $20,000 in funding under the Agriculture Infrastructure program.
Funding applications are also open for projects under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a federal-provincial-territorial agreement providing $37 million in support for the agriculture and agri-foods sector in Newfoundland and Labrador. For more information, visit Canadian Agricultural Partnership, email CAP@gov.nl.ca, or call 709-637-2077.
