Plant Concierge is a recently launched project designed to encourage more widespread consumer use of plant care and landscaping services, with the aim of increasing gardening activity in the homes of those who aren’t so good at or willing to garden, thereby increasing plant sales.
Plant Concierge is a directory of service providers that matches the jobs people want doing with who’s available locally to do them. In essence, it’s a bit like a dating site. More straightforward and direct than internet search engines, and more comprehensive and relevant than local directories, Plant Concierge has been tailor made to provide a practical, meaningful link between the general public and the gardening industry.
The woman behind the project, Miriam Young, is urging plant suppliers to take a proactive role in ensuring its success by passing the word along to customers and encouraging them to get involved.
“The more service providers and retailers place profiles into the system, the easier it will be to establish Plant Concierge in the public domain. This project is designed to break down the barriers that prevent a large chunk of the population from buying plants, thereby releasing a whole new stream of income. But it needs to be well-populated with service providers and retailers before the mainstream media will sit up and take notice. This is a great opportunity for the industry to pull together to benefit all. Media articles and in-store promotional materials are available to help retailers get the word out to the public, and plant suppliers can do their bit by simply passing the news along to their own customers via email messages and articles on their websites.”
