The Ontario government has opened nominations for its 2025 Excellence in Agriculture Awards, a significant opportunity for the province’s world-class agri-food industry.
These awards look to honour individuals and organizations, such as farmers, food processors, and businesses, who, according to a recent press release, are ‘driving excellence, sustainability, and long-term competitiveness’ within Ontario’s $51 billion agri-food sector.
The province’s minister of agriculture, food and agribusiness, Trevor Jones, said in the release that these awards “honour and celebrate our agri-food leaders”.
The initiative supports the province’s Grow Ontario Strategy by promoting local food and encouraging consumer support for Ontario farmers and businesses.
Nominations are open across 12 categories, many highly relevant to greenhouse operations, including:
- Food Processing Excellence
- Research and Innovation Excellence
- Workforce Excellence
- Supply Chain Excellence
- Urban Agriculture Excellence
Nominations are accepted until September 2, 2025, and can be submitted as a self-nomination or for another person/business at ontario.ca/agrifoodinnovation.
