Nominations now open for OFVGA Award of Merit

Award recognizes outstanding contributions to Ontario’s fruit and vegetable industry

The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association (OFVGA) has officially opened nominations for its annual Award of Merit.

In a recent release, the association shared that eligible nominees can submit entries until January 1, 2025 at 5 pm.

Eligible nominees include OFVGA member farmers or producers, groups of farmers, agri-food businesses and organizations within Ontario’s fruit and vegetable industry.

Nominees must be a resident of Ontario and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

The award recognizes achievements in innovation, such as improved farming practices, environmental stewardship, consumer outreach, energy innovation or advocacy within the industry.

Nomination forms are available on the OFVGA website or by contacting the OFVGA office. Completed submissions can be sent to OFVGA via email or postal mail.

The recipient will be announced at the OFVGA Banquet on February 18, 2025, in Niagara Falls, and will be featured in the March 2025 issue of The Grower.

Recent award winners include Don Brubacher (2024), Brian Gilroy (2023), Ontario Food Terminal (2020) and Ken Linington (2019). The award was not handed out in 2021 or 2022.
