He was the beloved father of Louise (Norm), Ron (Nadine) and Janet (Mark). Cherished Papa and Opa of Philip, Rachel, Paul, Ruthann, Kristopher, Stefan, Gabrielle and Samantha.

He was the much-loved uncle of many nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland, and dear brother of the late Wynand (Femme), Chris (Yopie), the late Jannie (Arie), Loes (Gerrit) and Andy.

Mr. Vanderschee was born in the small village of DeLier, Holland. As a child his family endured the Second World War and lived in occupied Holland. He went to college in Holland and became a carpenter “timmerman.”

At the age of 18 he immigrated to Canada to join his brother Wynand. His brother Andy followed soon after.

A skilled carpenter and businessman, he founded, owned and operated Jacobs Greenhouse Manufacturing (Delhi, Ont.) for over 35 years.

He loved life, never lost his sense of wonder and mischief, and was always looking for adventure. Known for his outgoing and friendly nature, he would talk to anyone – everywhere he went someone knew Jake!

Donations to the charity of your choice appreciated.

He was often known to say, “this is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
