Funding for Ontario growers: Biosecurity Improvement Initiative under SCAP Program

Sept. 26, 2023 – The Biosecurity Enhancement initiative, under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) is an $7.5 million investment to help eligible agri-food businesses enhance plant health and food safety in their sector.

This initiative, particularly relevant to Ontario’s greenhouse industry launched on Sept. 19, with continuous intake until Jan. 6, 2024. The $7.5 million investment is available at a first come, first serve basis. Cost-share funding will be available to producers, processors and other industry partners at various levels based on program stream.

The funding opportunities under the Sustainable CAP are cost-share intakes, which is where the governments of Ontario and Canada contribute a portion of the total project cost, and the applicant contributes the remaining amount.
