BC premier appoints new Minister of Agriculture and Food
New cabinet member to support local farmers and their concerns

Popham was first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Saanich South in 2009 and re-elected in 2013, 2017 and 2020. (B.C. NDP via Flickr) British Columbia’s NDP premier, David Eby, announced his new cabinet, among them, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Lana Popham.
In a recent release, the Government of British Columbia introduced the new cabinet on November 18.
Popham was first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Saanich South in 2009 and re-elected in 2013, 2017 and 2020.
During her previous tenure, she oversaw the expansion of Grow BC, Feed BC and Buy BC programs, supported recovery for farmers and ranchers during the floods of 2021, and encouraged increased Indigenous participation in the agriculture and food sectors.
Eby, his cabinet and government are now tasked with addressing the pressing concerns of British Columbians, including public safety, housing, affordability, and the economy.
