World Rose Festival coming to Vancouver in 2009

This event is the ultimate rose experience, with the Convention attracting rosarians from across the globe and the Festival offering the public a complete indulgence in everything to do with roses.
 
The Vancouver Rose Society, in conjunction with the World Federation of Rose Societies’ World Rose Convention is hosting the World Rose Festival, being held June 19 to 21, 2009 at the newly completed Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre.  An anticipated 15,000 flower enthusiasts will come to learn and share everything about the rose.
 
“The World Rose Festival is a true celebration of the rose,” says Brenda Viney, World Rose Festival and Convention co-chair.  “We have so much happening, it’s very exciting.  There will be a world-class judged rose show, display gardens, landscaper garden vignettes, expert advise from local and international rose breeders, floral design displays from some of the city’s cutting-edge florists, workshops and lectures, art and photo exhibits, an extensive marketplace and artisan corner, a kids’ garden area, entertainment and the Rose Bistro.”

The World Federation of Rose Societies, the Canadian Rose Society and the American Rose Society will host the World Rose Convention 2009, June 18 to 24, 2009, at the Westin Bayshore Hotel, Vancouver.  “We are very pleased that many of the world’s top international rose experts will be coming to share their knowledge, research and experience with delegates,” says Gerald Méylan, President of the World Federation of Rose Societies. “We have speakers coming from New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Africa and China to list a few. There will also be tours of some of BC’s most beautiful gardens enabling us to showcase the special opportunities the Pacific West Coast offers rose gardeners.”
 
The World Rose Convention will bring together over 800 rosarians from 40 countries for seven days of lectures, workshops, idea exchanges, research, garden tours and more.  The American Rose Society is also hosting its annual convention alongside with the World Rose Convention.
