Looking to make the greenhouse a safer place? This webinar will focus on the role supervisors play in supporting a culture of health and safety in the greenhouse. Speakers will explore the relationship between supervisors and workers and how they together can foster safer working environments.

This webinar will build on a root cause analysis in greenhouses conducted via the Greenhouse Risk Assessment Project – a multi-year initiative undertaken by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development in coordination with Workplace Safety & Prevention Services and greenhouse industry stakeholders.

Jay Remsik

Jay has worked in the Occupational Health & Safety field for close to 21 years, first with the Farm Safety Association and now with WSPS. Dealing primarily with the Agricultural Sector over this time, he has developed a strong understanding of its uniqueness and its challenges.

Manager Human Resources, Bayview Flowers

Tom is also Chair of the Ontario Greenhouse Alliance (TOGA) HR Committee. Bayview Flowers grows a large variety of flowers and floral products and is dedicated to providing superior quality.

 

Gina Marchionda & Allison Beekhuis
 Jeffery’s Greenhouses

The workplace safety program at Jeffery’s Greenhouses is managed by Gina Marchionda, Controller and Allison Beekhuis, Human Resources Manager.

Gina has been with Jeffery’s Greenhouses for the past 19 years, Allison has been an HR professional in the agricultural industry for 10 years. With locations in both St. Catharines and Jordan Station, Jeffery’s Greenhouses grow annuals, spring baskets, mixed containers, and potted plants exclusively for Home Depot stores in Ontario and New York State. The business has participated in the WSPS safety groups program over the past ten years as well as on the Agriculture WSPS Advisory Committee for the last three years.

Health, Safety & Food Manager, Mucci Farms
