Dec. 11, 2013, Ottawa — A provision of the federal government’s proposed Agricultural Growth Act would give the Canadian Food Inspection Agency authority to consider foreign reviews when approving new agricultural products.
The government says the ability to use data and analysis from other countries will make for a more effective approval process.

The Act also includes a new licensing and registration regime for animal feed and fertilizer operators. There’s also increased penalties for violations.
