Oct 2009 – Engage Agro has announced that TriStar 70 WSP is now
registered for use in greenhouse tomato and pepper production in Canada.
TriStar has received a minor use label expansion for the control of aphids on
greenhouse peppers with a spray application and for the control of whiteflies
on tomatoes with a drip irrigation application.
TriStar is a neonicitinoid insecticide and has been used in
Canadian greenhouse ornamental and nursery ornamental production for many
years. It offers contact, systemic and translaminar activity on a number of
sucking insect pests. The flexibility of the product allows it to be used
effectively in a preventive control program or as a cleanup. TriStar also has a
very low toxicity to bumble bees, which makes it an ideal choice for greenhouse
vegetable production.
Engage Agro would like to thank OMAFRA, AAFC-PMC and Nippon
Soda for their contributions and support of this project.
