Trades boot camp seeks employer participation in Ontario
August 19, 2021 By Greenhouse Canada

Support Ontario Youth is searching for employers who have an interest in hiring apprentices in the skilled trades, including horticulture.
The federally registered, charitable organization is launching a free Tools in the Trades Boot Camp program, where both adults and graduating high school students will take part in intensive and interactive, one-day introductory workshops to the trades. Up to 2,100 young people will have access to one of 70, one-day boot camps across Ontario.
The day will include workshops to improve employability skills, such as workplace etiquette, resume building, and interview skills. In addition, participants will practice trade-specific skills under the guidance of experienced tradespeople. There will be an opportunity to meet and network with employers looking to hire apprentices for their business.
Those attending will also receive an apprentice starting tool kit valued at $250 and the opportunity to meet with prospective employers in the industrial, construction, motive power, horticultural and service sectors.
Employers interested in participating are asked to contact Operations Manager, Huong Nguyen at huong.nguyen@supportontarioyouth.ca. The commitment is approximately one hour, depending on event type and date.
Interested? View the Employer Invitation for further information, and visit the Tools in the Trade Boot Camp page.
