THRIVE opens applications to accelerator program for agri-food startups

An open call for early-stage agri-food tech startups has been put out for those who wish to apply to the inaugural THRIVE Canada Accelerator Program with applications closing on November 5.

“The THRIVE Canada program is an incredible opportunity for selected companies to receive an initial $75,000 investment, access to our extensive corporate partner and investor network, access to growers and producers, a seed camp in Silicon Valley, mentorship, and workshops led by industry experts. The program culminates at Calgary Stampede where cohort companies present on a global stage and compete for up to $250,000 in follow-on investment,” says Evan Cohen, the Accelerator Manager at THRIVE.

10 selected companies will benefit from a three-month virtual and in-person accelerator program that provides investment, access to some of the largest agriculture companies and farmers located in North America, and mentorship from top industry leaders. The program boasts an extensive partner network of over 6000+ farmers, growers, and agriculture partners, to provide startups with opportunities to conduct active field trials. They also partner with Olds College, in Alta., providing access to their agritech innovation Smart Farm for testing and validating technology.

The program is open to early-stage agri-food tech companies from all areas of the value chain whose technologies work towards a more efficient, sustainable, and secure agricultural future.

According to THRIVE, eligible companies should be Seed to Series A with technologies focused in the following areas:

• Farm Management Software, Sensing, and IOT
• Big Data & Predictive Analytics
• Animal Health & Livestock
• Indoor Farming
• Robotics & Automation
• Biotechnology
• Supply Chain Management & Traceability
• Innovative Food (ingredient innovation)
