Provalor has been granted a 200,000 euro subsidy to fund a new biomass plant in the Netherlands, allowing the company to convert its own biomass into energy for its glasshouse.

Vegetables grown on site and deemed not suitable for marketing will be processed into dry biomass. This, in turn, will be converted into energy to heat the greenhouse.

HortiDaily notes that these vegetables are usually composted because they contain too much water to be used for biogas.
