Two new stars on the perennial runway come from Blooms of Bressingham®, including the fall blooming Anemone Pretty Lady Series, with a compact habit and a very floriferous nature, and Coreopsis ‘Sweet Marmalade’ a floriferous, light orange sport of ‘Crème Brulee.’ Green Leaf Plants is also introducing six new Dianthus cultivars from Whetman® Pinks Ltd., and a new series of Alcea called Spring Celebrities, with a compact habit, large flowers and a long bloom time.

There are 10 new TradeWinds tropical hibiscus varieties available as liners, from light yellow to deepest red. Keepsake® florist azalea liners include a 3" semi-double lavender called Emblem, and a Rozalea® variety in dark pink.

In the Trial Garden at the open house, you can tour at your own pace, and see new perennials from Blooms of Bressingham®, and others from Green Leaf’s breeder network, trialed side-by-side with commercial comparisons. You can also sign up for one of two special guided tours that will focus on selected new varieties for 2011-2012.

Guided tours of the greenhouse will be going on all day long, where you can view lean horticultural processes up close, including propagation, production and shipping. There’ll also be Lean Simulation workshops offered in the morning and afternoon.

The Open House includes a continental breakfast at 8:30, a buffet lunch, and garden and greenhouse tours all day long. But you must RSVP by June 3. To register, e-mail your reservation (openhouse@GLplants.com) or call 800-321-9573, ext. 288.
