Sheridan Nurseries takes home four garden centre awards at Landscape Ontario ceremony

The 49th annual Landscape Ontario Awards of Excellence recently took place highlighting some of the province’s best work in the garden centre category.

Each year, Landscape Ontario members submit projects, designs and displays in hopes of winning an award in their select category. The annual competition features more than 40 categories of entries judged by a panel of respected horticulture industry experts.

Winners for the 2022 program were announced during a live-streamed, virtual awards ceremony held on February 3, 2022.

Sheridan Nurseries picked up awards for four displays. Three of them were designed by Benjamin Hayes of Sheridan Nurseries Georgetown: Awards won included: Merchandising Techniques – Outstanding Promotional Event, Permanent Display Gardens – Under 500 square feet, Outstanding Display of Plant Material – Annuals and/or Perennials and lastly Outstanding Display of Goods – Seasonal, designed by Karen Anderson.

Two other garden centres won awards: Baltimore Valley Garden Centre for Merchandising Techniques – Outstands Promotions Event, and Port Carling Garden Centre took home Outstanding Display of Plant Material – Your Specialty.

Broadcasters recognized

The Garden Communicator’s Award was given to Steven and Emma Biggs.
This is given to a writer or broadcaster who has consistently produced a high level of quality in the field of horticulture through his or her efforts in communication. Candidates include those who communicate to the general public or the trade on a regular basis.
