Saskatchewan looks into northern greenhouse tech
October 23, 2012 By Treena Hein

Registration is sold out for the ‘Northern Food Security: The Greenhouse Solution’ conference being held November 7th and 8th in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
“The University of Saskatchewan International Centre for Northern Governance and Development, in collaboration with the University of the Arctic, is hosting this conference that will focus on northern food security,” notes 360 Energy’s Lisa Brodeur. “The focus is on greenhouses, new technologies and making them economically viable in the North.”
“Some of the key topics that will be addressed at this conference will be on emerging technologies for food production in northern regions, lighting and its challenges in the North, energy options for greenhouse heating as well as design implications that need to be considered. Experts from across the country will be there to discuss these issues, exploring the social, economic and technical issues involved in developing sustainable greenhouses in northern communities.”
