Leading French gardens on tour itinerary

June 23, 2017  By Dave Harrison

June 23, 2017 – This year’s annual garden tour hosted by John Schroeder of Valleybrook Gardens is heading to France.

The itinerary includes the fertile Loire Valley, known for its outstanding wines, charming villages and grand châteaux. Landscape artists from around the world have created inspiring gardens that tour members will see at the Chaumont Garden Festival.

The tour will also visit some of France’s best potagers (ornamental vegetable gardens) such as Châteaux de Villandry at their late summer best, and perhaps taste some of the 650 varieties of tomatoes grown at La Bourdaisiere.

Other tour highlights include the iconic sights of Paris, such as the Louvre Museum and its gardens, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, etc. A visit to Monet’s famous water garden at Giverny will be included as well.

“As nursery owners for over 35 years, we’ve had the opportunity to travel to many of the worlds best gardens,” said Schroeder. “We love to travel, and our small groups (between 12 and 18) allow us to enjoy a great deal of fun, comraderie and good times.”
