Sept. 4, 2013, Toronto — The Royal Bank of Canada has launched a new program for retailers interested in greening their operations with an energy retrofit.
A retrofit makes improvements to a building's infrastructure,
incorporating energy-efficient technologies in order to save energy and
money.
The RBC Energy Efficiency Lending program
is designed to allow business owners to borrow the funds for an energy
retrofit and use the resulting cost savings to pay back the loan.
"Our
specialists can help assess your potential energy saving opportunities
and lend you the funds to help realize those savings. The loan or lease
will be set up to reduce the impact on your existing cash flow by
including the expected energy savings into your repayment schedule,"
RBC's website reported. "In short, you get all the benefits of a more
energy efficient business with minimized impact on your cash flow."
The program also make retailers aware of rebates, incentives and tax credits to help maximize their returns.
A pilot program for retailers is already underway in Ontario. RBC expects a national roll out next year.
