A two-day workshop was recently held in Saskatoon focusing on bringing greenhouses to that area of the province.

Leo Gardiner, CEO of the Buffalo Narrows Economic Development Corporation, says it is something bands should have thought of long ago. He says northern greenhouses could make fresh fruit and vegetables cheaper for northern residents and provide jobs.

The greenhouses are being designed by a Saskatoon-based company, Integrated Designs.

They will function mostly on solar power, but with a wood-fuelled boiler as backup.
