July 9, 2013 — Philips is expanding its horticultural lighting team in North America.
Dr. Abhay Thosar, a specialist in horticultural LED lighting, will focus on plant physiology. In this role, he will be responsible for development of new lighting recipes for commercial greenhouses and research facilities.
Thosar has a PhD degree in plant physiology, and is a certified professional with the Ontario Institute of Agrologists.
Thosar has 11 years experience in nutrition management, PGRs, environmental controls and IPM for field crops, greenhouse production and commercial plant tissue culture lab applications.
He has worked on different tissue culture techniques, including micro-propagation, with a number of floriculture crops.
In addition, he has extensive experience in commercial greenhouse
management with containerized plant, cut flower and vegetable crops.
