Apr. 12, 2013, Ottawa — Canada's organic market grew to $3.7 billion in 2012, with 58 per cent of all Canadians buying organic products every week, according to new research by the Canada Organic Trade Association.
In late 2012, the association launched an organic market research program, combining new consumer research, insights into market size, and demographics and drivers behind organic purchases. WIth Canadians reportedly spending $2.9 billion on organic foods and beverages and $3 million on organic flowers last year, offering product lines to help consumers grow organic gardens is a natural opportunity for garden centres.
