Schenck Farms and Greenhouses is hosting garden mum trials by Syngenta, GroLink and Fides.
Inclement weather on Tuesday affected attendance at this year’s open house. However, those attending were impressed by the scope of one of the largest garden mum trials in North America.
Breeder representatives on hand included Sean Valk and Mark Smith from Syngenta, Judy Born of Fides, and Bernard Chodyla of GroLink.
|Note-taking at the trials.
|(GroLink) 'Girona Orange' has a sphere habit, is flexible in shipping and
is easy to size-up in larger containers; 'Girona Lilac' is a very early
performer with large flowers and is adaptable to any container size.
|(Syngenta) 'Jillian Lavender' is an early variety with perfect mounding habit and is
more compact than 'Symphony Pink'; and 'Jacqueline Pearl' is an early season
standout with large flowers.
|(Fides) 'Daybreak Dark Yellow' is vigorous and one of the earliest to
flower in a natural season, and is also very fast in shaded programs; 'Daybreak Dark Bronze' is recommended for early natural season
|The trials included varieties from Fides, Gro-Link and Syngenta.|
