Sept. 16, 2014, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. – Looking into retractable roof systems?
Westland Greenhouse Supplies has partnered with Novavert to offer a high-quality, affordable outdoor structure with a retractable roof system.

This was designed for a multitude of uses, including hardening crops and extending growing areas with a flexible use structure.
Westland is hosting an open house on the system on Oct. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Garden City Growers at 405 Concession 5 Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
This is the day before the Canadian Greenhouse Conference (Oct. 8-9) in nearby Niagara Falls.
The truss is designed at 22 inches high with a five per cent slope to allow for water run-off. Its been manufactured this way to increase its strength, provide space for the cloth to drop when open, and still allow for the use of the bottom cord of the truss for irrigation or hanging baskets.
The system and structure combination allows growers to protect crops during adverse weather conditions, including high winds, hard rain or frost.
The components used in the Novavert system are also especially durable. Featured is an impermeable solar woven cloth so strong you can stand on it (see photo at left).
However this system can also use shade cloth, blackout material and even energy saving material with two layers, depending on the intended use.
