Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Powering northern greenhouses
Ag Canada is responding to public interest in northern greenhouses, and has just announced a Request for Proposal to produce “a comprehensive background study” on greenhouse production for northern/isolated communities - including design, technologies and cost/benefit analyses.

All electrical operations at The Mustard Seed greenhouses in Chaska, Minnesota, are being powered by the wind. Meanwhile in Portage, Michigan, the Elzinga Hoeksema 12-acre New Millennium Greenhouses are almost entirely energy self-sufficient, using solar, wind and geothermal.
