Oct. 20, 2015, Regina — Farm Credit Canada (FCC) and its partners across the country are working together to provide three million meals for Canada’s food banks as part of the 12th edition of FCC Drive Away Hunger.

Windset Farms, a leading B.C.-based greenhouse grower and marketer, is a national partner.

This week, FCC Drive Away Hunger tractor tours will take place in Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. FCC is also collecting food and cash donations in its office locations Canada-wide until Oct. 23.

“FCC Drive Away Hunger demonstrates our commitment to the industry and brings the agriculture community together to share the food it produces with those who need it most,” said Michael Hoffort, FCC president and CEO.

“With the help of our partners, we’ve provided more than 22 million meals to Canadian food banks since we began the program back in 2004.”

FOOD COLLECTION CAMPAIGN

FCC Drive Away Hunger involves driving a tractor and trailer through various communities to collect food and cash donations for food banks across the country. One hundred per cent of donations go to Canadian food banks, and anyone can visit www.fccdriveawayhunger.ca to make a monetary donation.

FCC is grateful for its enthusiastic partners whose energy and commitment are a driving force behind the success of FCC Drive Away Hunger, year after year.

PLATINUM PARTNERS

As platinum partners, BDO Canada, TMF Foods Inc., Défi Jeunesse Quebec, Courchesne Larose and Chenail Fruits & Légumes have once again committed to collecting and providing food and money for food banks across Canada.

In addition to Windset Farms, other national partners are Parrish and Heimbecker Limited, Co-op, Solis Foods Corporation, AGT Foods, and BroadGrain Commodities Inc.

FOOD BANK SUPPORT

“It’s a reality that food banks are needed across the country – and that includes rural Canada,” said Hoffort.

“FCC Drive Away Hunger is one of the ways we give back to the rural communities where our customers and employees live and work, and we’re thankful to everyone who takes action and supports their communities in this way.”
