TOVs and avocados a perfect pairing

May 1, 2017  By Dave Harrison

May 1, 2017, Camarillo, CA – California grown tomatoes on the vine and California avocados are the perfect ingredient pairing to kick off summertime retail cross promotions.

Houweling’s Group and the California Avocado Commission have once again collaborated with a new tomato truss tag incorporating a fresh recipe idea for consumers.

Beginning this month, California-grown Houweling’s TOVs will include new branded truss tags, featuring a delicious, easy to prepare recipe, courtesy of California Avocado Commission.

“Tomatoes and avocados are natural display and purchase partners, often used as complements in salads and sandwiches,” says David Bell, chief marketing officer for Houweling’s Group.

“Merchandised together, they deliver a striking colour combination, attract shopper interest and generate sales. Adding an easy, delicious recipe such as “Avocado and Tomato Bruschetta” to the truss tag gives another great option to consumers who are always looking for fresh, healthy ideas as they navigate their grocery store.”

TRUSS TAG PROMOTION

The truss tags prominently feature California Grown, which is a purchase motivator for shoppers who prefer locally grown produce, adds Jan DeLyser, vice-president of marketing for the California Avocado Commission.

“In addition to social media promotion from both organizations, select retailers will have in-store demos and promotional savings to engage the consumer.”
