Planning for full-scale vertical farm in B.C.

June 13, 2016  By Dave Harrison

June 13, 2016, Abbotsford, B.C. – Vertical Designs Ltd. has plans to build a full-scale vertical farm under an non-exclusive licencing agreement purchased from Affinor Growers Inc.

This project will be the first of its kind in the world and will likely grow strawberries sold under a large North American brand being negotiated now.

• Vertical Designs also plans to install state-of-the-art solar and wind technology, meaning the project will either be off the grid or very close to net zero carbon. This will ensure operations are insulated from the constant rising cost of energy.

• As well, this facility will have no water waste and will recycle and rebuild its soil to ensure its organic status. This will showcase and lead the world into the new age of high tech farming utilizing vertical farming technology.

Vertical Designs plans to continue to buy agriculture land and none exclusive licences from Affinor Growers to build operations as needed to service its aggressive growth plans over 2016 and 2017.

“We are very excited about the launch of this new technology and the jobs it will create,” notes director Amanda Weber.

“Along with diffused greenhouse technology, and wind and solar energy, we feel this is an almost bullet-proof business model of the future not only for B.C. but in every other province, state and country around the world.

“We look forward to growing more operations under non-exclusive licences and begin our quest to execute our business model beginning in B.C.”
