July 12, 2017, Downers Grove, IL – All-America Selections, currently celebrating its 85th anniversary as the only North American non-profit trialing organization for plants that demonstrate great garden performance, have announced three new and exciting national AAS Winners.
Each of the following varieties was trialed throughout North America by professional, independent, volunteer judges who grew them next to comparisons that are considered best-in-class.
This new group of AAS Winners for the 2018 garden season includes:
• Corn, sweet American Dream (National).
• Ornamental Pepper Onyx Red (National).
• Tomato, cocktail Red Racer F1 (National).

Links on each breeding company name lead to an email address for ordering seed for the 2018 garden season. Brokers, distributors and other resellers are able to order these varieties immediately. Each AAS Winner will be marketed through an extensive social media and public relations campaign.
ORNAMENTAL PEPPER ‘ONYX RED’
This is one of those stunning double-take plants that steal the show! This breeding work has resulted in an unprecedented compact, well-branched ornamental pepper adorned with eye-catching dark black foliage. The contrast between the diminutive black foliage and tons of shiny red fruits is striking and makes a bold statement in the garden. Plants are vigorous, continually growing but retain their neat, compact habit, making ‘Onyx Red’ a wonderful plant for beds, borders, containers and dramatic mass plantings. Naturally compact plants are perfect for a potted plant program as well as for an annual bedding plan where earliness and retail readiness are important factors. It is bred by Takii & Co., Ltd.
