Memorial for former greenhouse veg specialist

July 28, 2014, Kingsville, Ont. — John Clement Fisher, greenhouse
vegetable specialist from 1971-90 with the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food, passed away on July 23 of this year at age 88.

July 28, 2014, Kingsville, Ont. — John Clement Fisher, greenhouse vegetable specialist from 1971-90 with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, passed away on July 23 of this year at age 88.

A memorial service was held at noon today at Sykes Funeral Home.

Mr. Fisher was born in Strathroy and remained involved in the Caradoc farming community. He graduated in 1951 from the Ontario Agriculture College (OAC), and worked in Chatham and Harrow with Agriculture Canada between 1951-55.

He was a business partner with Bowman & Carson Ltd. in Leamington (1955-71), and was a farm radio broadcaster (1955-60).

After retirement, he enjoyed music, golf, travel and spending time with family and friends. He was an active member of the Canadian Chestnut Council.

Mr. Fisher was the caring husband of Gladys Fisher (2009). Dear father of Pam Fisher and husband Chris Thorpe, Paris, and Pat and husband Terry McLaughlin, Leamington. Cherished grandfather to Carolyn, Tristan and Eva Thorpe. Clement will be missed by his brother-in-law James Alexander and sister-in-law Eileen of Glammis, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mence and Eliza Fisher, his sister Agnes Fisher (2012), brother-in-laws Murray Alexander (2009), Ron Alexander (1991) and sister-in-law Anne Alexander (2014).
