‘Medicinal’ greenhouse planned for Logan Lake

September 3, 2018  By Greenhouse Canada

MedFlora Pharmaceutical Inc. has submitted an application to purchase Crown land in Logan Lake Industrial Park, BC to build a greenhouse for medicinal plants, including cannabis.

According to the information release the facility at 184 Apex Drive will total 425,000 sq. ft., with 25,000 sq. ft. proposed for producing and processing cannabis. The company has applied to become a licensed producer under ACMPR, and the cannabis component will require a rezoning application.

Medflora Pharmaceutical will also be collaborating with the Lower Nicola Indian Band, who will assist in facility operations and site preparation services. Operations are scheduled to begin in the spring of 2019.

As CFJC Today reports, the greenhouse operation could be beneficial for Logan Lake, bringing in new jobs and tax dollars. Residents have expressed concerns around the impact on their housing prices, the lights, the smell, and the lack of notice in the community. Officials say there is still room for discussion around the proposed cannabis facility, with a public hearing planned after the rezoning application is submitted.

Details on the project are available here.
