Lowe’s announces additional Canadian store sites

July 22, 2008, Toronto – Lowe's Companies Canada announced plans yesterday to open three additional stores in Canada by the end of the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008. Stores are expected to open in Belleville, Whitby and South Windsor, Ont.

Lowe's opened its first three Canadian locations in December 2007 (South Brampton, Brantford and Hamilton) and four additional locations in February 2008 (North Brampton, East Gwillimbury, Maple and Toronto). Each store provides 117,000 square feet of retail sales space, with an additional, adjacent garden center of approximately 31,000 square feet. Each Lowe's location creates up to 175 local jobs and represents an average investment of more than $18,529,600 CDN ($18.5 million USD).
