Industry veterans on Canada Blooms’ stage

March 2, 2011 – Several industry veterans will take to the
podium later this month as part of the Canada Blooms Education Series.

March 2, 2011, Toronto – Several industry veterans will take to the
podium later this month as part of the Canada Blooms Education Series.

Speakers will include Jim Hole, Mark Cullen, Frank Ferragine, Denis Flanagan, Albert Graves, Charlie Dobbin and Paul Zammit.

Canada Blooms will run March 16-20 at the Direct Energy Centre along the Toronto waterfront.

Featured are over 200 hours of free seminars.

Jim Hole is a co-owner of Hole’s Greenhouses &
Gardens, one of the largest retail garden centres in Canada. He has
written numerous articles on horticulture and gardening for such
publications as the National Post, Canadian Gardening Magazine, the Old Farmer’s Almanac, and the Edmonton Journal, and is also co-author of a series of gardening books.

Mark Cullen is Canada’s best known gardener. Each week
he reaches over one million Canadians through various media outlets,
such as CTV/Canada AM, the Toronto Star and AM680. Mark’s book, The Canadian Garden Primer, An Organic Approach, features information on vegetable and ornamental gardens.

Denis Flanagan is best known for his gardening shows on
HGTV and promotes the joy and benefits of horticulture through the
Green for Life program at Landscape Ontario.com. He has been involved in
many prestigious projects, including work for the Royal Family.
Flanagan is an award-winning horticulturalist, having achieved a gold
medal at The Chelsea Flower Show, in addition to other award winning
gardens.

Every Saturday morning, Charlie Dobbin hosts the GARDEN
SHOW on The New AM 740. Charlie is an internationally known
horticulturist and landscape designer. During her two-decade career, she
has become well known for her professional gardening seminars and
demonstrations, as well as for her prolific articles in newspapers and
magazines on the subject. In 2002, Charlie started her own design and
horticultural consulting company, Garden Solutions by Charlie Dobbin.
She is also the horticultural director for Canada Blooms.

Albert Graves is a respected instructor of floral art
at Humber College, who has taught some of the most talented young
designers in the industry today. He continually searches for new and
novel ideas to feed his unique talent of strict design ethos. His work
has been used for the Dutch Queen’s birthday, visiting dignitaries,
celebrities and various television shows.

Frank Ferragine (Frankie Flowers) is arguably Canada’s
favourite and best known weather and gardening personality. As a weather
and garden specialist, Frank can be seen daily on CityTV Toronto, as
well as nationally on CityLine. His gardening advice can be found in Canadian Living magazine. Ferragine has twice been named Garden Broadcaster of the Year by Landscape Ontario. He also has a new book this year, Get Growing, which will be available at Canada Blooms.

Paul Zammit is the current director of horticulture at
the Toronto Botanical Garden. He is a regular speaker at garden clubs
and horticultural trade shows in Canada and the United States and has
appeared on television and in print. He has also received numerous
awards for his container designs.
