Holey Soles recently donated 100,000 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls Inc., a non-profit organization that provides footwear to needy people around the world. This is the largest single donation ever received by the organization.

“I’m proud that Holey Soles is able to help such a great organization make a difference,” said Joyce Groote, president and CEO of the Vancouver-based company. It also embodies our corporate culture of giving back and making a difference where we can. We are also grateful that TNT Freight Management has contributed to shipping these products to those in need.”

Before its incorporation as a charity in 2006, Soles4Souls began as a loose group of people, churches, ministries, and companies responding to the tsunami in southern Asia in 2004 with footware donated from all over the world. The group also raised nearly a million pairs of shoes for those displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Holey Soles also responded to both events with $260,000 worth of shoes for the victims of Katrina, and a financial donation to the people of Thailand.

“Holey Soles has made an incredible gesture that will impact one hundred thousand lives,” said Wayne Elsey, founder of the Nashville, Tenn.-based Soles4Souls. “We are incredibly thankful that Joyce and the team at Holey Soles have such big hearts for people all over the world and are willing to get involved in such a momentous way. These wonderful shoes will be distri-buted to people in several African countries, as well as Central and South America, and we couldn’t be more pleased to deliver these shoes to people who will greatly appreciate the gift,” he said.

Popular among gardeners, Holey Soles shoes are noted for their bright colour and distinctive design. The shock-absorbing foam sole is also appreciated by doctors, boaters, expectant mothers, handymen and others who spend the day on their feet.
