Highlights at Christmasworld 2013

December 3, 2012  By Canadian Garden Centre & Nursery

Dec. 3, 2012, Frankfurt, Germany — The holiday season is just getting underway for consumers, but retailers already gearing up for next year are looking forward to Christmasworld 2013.

Alongside new products from some 1,000 exhibitors, the world's leading trade fair for festive decorations will also offer numerous inspiring exhibitions, events and lectures for visitors.

Highlights at the 2013 show will include:

Fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, internationally renowned for his outlandish "comic couture." He has designed his own personal interpretation of the Christmas symbolism for the charity promotion "Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs et Christmasworld." The result will be presented in Hall 1.1 and trade visitors will have the chance to win this unique exhibit. The proceeds from his exclusive Christmasworld creation will go to the Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Foundation L'enfant@l'hôpital.

For 17 years now, this charity initiative has been inviting the best designers from the world of design to produce their own personal Christmas creation, which is then auctioned at a fundraising event. This year, more than 30 trees are available for the auction. Amongst their designers are top names such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, who designed last year's Christmasworld tree, Dior, Dsquared2, Les Garçons, Olivia Putman and Stella McCartney. Christmasworld will present all the designs in an exclusive photo exhibition in Hall 11.1.

The Christmasworld Trend Show will take up residence in Hall 11.1. The 2013/14 trends for the holiday season combine the joy of decoration and a cozy atmosphere with individuality and creativity. Four styles: "Precious Jungle," "Fantasy Forest," "Glowing Desert," and "Gracious Coast" illustrate completely different characters.

With their lavish special show, design consultants bora.herke.palmisano invite professional visitors to immerse themselves in each of these displays and to let themselves be inspired by the new additions to the decorations and product ranges. As in previous years, the products used are labeled with the name of the exhibitor and its stand number – a great help when ordering. The design consultants give talks every day at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and conduct personal guided tours through the Trend Show.

The "Christmas Garden Market" competition
celebrates the most creative presentations and promotions relating to the celebration of love. Be it traditional, trendy, emotional or modern, the award honours garden centres and specialist horticultural retailers that show particular creativity and the courage to explore new paths in their presentation of goods and product ranges.

Window Wonderland is 2Dezign’s showcase of unique shop window decorations to this end. In the large special show in Hall 9.0, the Dutch design studio is constructing a complete funfair, including a carousel, Ferris wheel and stalls in oversized shop windows. These unusual product displays provide a setting for exuberant decoration and a mix of fresh and artificial flowers. A particular highlight is the virtual mirror, an installation that uses the technology of augmented reality (AR). "We want to show how retailers can continue to surprise and inspire their customers through creativity on the one hand and by thinking beyond the confines of their own horizons, on the other. The virtual mirror is all part of it; we invite visitors at the fair to take an active role themselves and to discover the unexpected in the virtual world," says Rudi Tuinman of 2Dezign.

Christmasworld Forum begins with over 20 specialist lectures, live demonstrations, panel discussions and award ceremonies. The specialist program is targeted at florists, decorators and retailers, as well as operators of DIY stores and garden centres. High-profile speakers will pass on forward-looking strategies for retailers and tried and tested tips and tricks of the trade for increased success. Speakers will include Petra Schwörer, Burkhard Treude, Alexander Limbrock, Rupert Fey and Magdalena Lötzer.

Christmasworld runs Jan. 25 to 29, 2013 in Frankfurt am Man, Germany. For more information, visit  www.christmasworld.messefrankfurt.com.
