March 24, 2014, Vineland, Ont. — Flowers Canada Ontario (FCO), in partnership with Vineland Research & Innovation Centre (VRIC), is hosting a research priorities meeting on Wednesday (March 26).

The meeting is held once a year to discuss issues impacting Ontario floriculture. Based on the discussion, FCO will develop a list of research priorities, topics for which research efforts should be focused to address the most pressing issues.

These priorities are shared with Ontario Ministry of Agriculture & Food and with research institutions and help guide the FCO research committee in its decisions regarding how to invest FCO’s annual research budget.

It also guides OMAF, the University of Guelph and VRIC in developing research programs for the industry.

The meeting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the second floor boardroom at VRIC.

Growers can attend to share their views, or they can e-mail their ideas to FCO research director Jamie Aalbers at jamie@fco.ca.

Those wishing to attend should contact Sarah Brien at the FCO office (1-800-698-0113 ext. 221 or sarah@fco.ca) and background materials will be shared with you.
