Green Careers Canada a new online resource

February 12, 2016  By Dave Harrison

Feb. 12, 2016, Toronto — Landscape Ontario and the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association have launched a new online resource for green profession educators and students across Canada.

Green Careers Canada is designed to provide easy access to information about landscape and horticulture jobs, courses, scholarships, bursaries and apprenticeships in each province. The website also promotes awareness about green career options to guidance counsellors, co-op teachers and policy makers.

Green Careers Canada also has an interactive component, where students and professionals share their educational and industry experiences through video interviews. The videos add a personal touch along with valuable advice for people looking to pursue careers in landscaping and horticulture.

The platform also gives teachers the ability to connect and share resources though its private educator’s discussion board.

Michael Pascoe, program coordinator of horticulture programs at Fanshawe College, supports the Green Careers Canada initiative.

“Students can look at schools, careers and scholarships and industry members can participate in looking for students and scholarship opportunities,” he said. “Secondary schools can connect with colleges and then as an educator, we can actually post material that we can share.”

Updated regularly, Green Careers Canada also presents a comprehensive list of events and information related to the industry.
