On Thursday, July 21, Yonge-Dundas Square was home to a beautiful floral haven.

The excitement was extended beyond this downtown gathering place situated within the retail hub of Canada’s largest city.
“We continued our pay-it-forward idea and gave each person two flowers – one to brighten their day, and one to give to a friend, a colleague, or a total stranger.”
Behavioural studies prove that flowers make people happy and have a long-term effect on moods. PickOntario was certainly successful in providing this firsthand experience and recreating that wave of contagious smiles, admiration and gratitude at such a simple gesture.
PickOntario, a popular program of Flowers Canada Ontario, took this event to a whole new level and gave Torontonians the full “Happiness in Bloom” experience, which included:
• A Flower Wall: A 10x10 floral art installation made up of fresh Ontario flowers.
• A Flower Tag Station: Where guests were invited to write a personalized message on the tag of the flower they gave away that same day.
• A Flower Crown Bar: Where a flower expert was available to assist guests as they created their personalized flower crowns.
• A Social Photo Print Station: A custom photo experience for participants to share online. Guests who posted their photos to Instagram or Twitter using #HappinessinBloom received an instant 4x6 printed copy of their image.
“This was a fantastic opportunity for Torontonians to take a break from their busy lives and join us in spreading happiness, while admiring the beauty of fresh, Ontario grown flowers,” added Gough.
“Happiness in Bloom was created to make people smile, remind them how beautiful nature is, and increase awareness of Ontario-grown flowers and potted plants, and we did just that.”
PickOntario captured this incredible event on camera, and created a stunning video that shares the “Happiness in bloom” experience.

PickOntario is an initiative developed by Flowers Canada (Ontario) Inc. to raise awareness, interest and demand for Ontario-grown cut flowers and potted plants.
When consumers pick Ontario, they are supporting the more than 200 greenhouse farmers who employ approximately 9,000 people in the province.
The growers in Ontario work hard to produce quality flowers and use the latest trends in technology and growing techniques to ensure their products are delivered fresh daily to local retail establishments.
