Jan. 9, 2013, Vineland, Ont. — Flowers Canada (Ontario) is accepting registrations for its winter night school program.

The class will focus on managing plant size and habit, as well as crop timing.
 
This course begins Feb. 5 and continues for five to six weeks (one evening per week) for commercial flower growers, with the objective of upgrading the knowledge of people currently working in the greenhouse industry. Those interested should have at least one year’s experience in greenhouse production.

The course will require a minimum number of 12 participants and only 25 spaces are available.
 
Register now! The cost is $195, with classes held Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9:30 at Rittenhouse Hall at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre.
 
Topics include Vegetative Growth, Generative Growth, Crop Timing, Height Control options, Influence of Environment on Crop Times, Post-Harvest Performance, and Pre-Shipping and Post-Shipping issues.

Course instructors include Dr. Theo Blom (Univ. of Guelph), Albert Grimm (Jeffery’s Greenhouses Inc.), and Wayne Brown (OMAFRA).
