Sept. 5,  2012, Toronto — After a strong 2012 season inspired by a warm spring and summer, Ontario’s garden, floral and outdoor living retail industry is preparing to turn its attention to next year.

The plants, flowers and garden implements people will be seeking in 2013 will be the focus of Expo 2012, Landscape Ontario’s garden and floral trade show that will take place at the Toronto Congress Centre, North Building.

Close to 2,000 people passed through the show floor at Expo 2012 over last year’s two-day show. Expo showcases the best the garden, floral and nursery industry has to offer, and will run Oct. 17-18. It will also provide the opportunity for those in the green industry to capitalize on a strong 2012 and carry it over into 2013.

“Every year brings something new to Ontario’s vibrant horticulture and floriculture industry,” says Heather MacRae, Landscape Ontario’s director of events and trade shows. “For those in the industry, Expo is the ideal opportunity to begin marketing efforts for 2013 and discover the emerging trends that will be in demand at garden centres, florist and mass merchants next spring.”

The schedule for this year’s show is jam-packed with informative seminars and special events that are beneficial for any business in garden, floral and nursery businesses. Noted U.K. gardening guru David Domoney will illustrate how you can set your retail operation apart by giving it personality and identity, transforming your business into a compelling destination. His keynote address takes place at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 17.

Included on the final day of the show ( Oct. 18) will be an intense, yet entertaining, session on Planning for Profits. Garden centre retailers and florists, as well as interior, floral and landscape designers, will find this session inspiring.

“Expo grows and changes every year, striving to be better than it has ever been before,” says MacRae. “It is an accurate reflection of Ontario’s green industry, which is always on the lookout for new merchandising concepts, new products and new services that stimulate homeowners, looking to create their own private escapes, to make purchases. The show floor is packed with top-notch exhibitors, innovative new products and plants and services to help garden and floral retailers make their stores interesting destinations for their customers.”
