Dig.Drop.Done teams with Habitat for Humanity

Aug. 27, 2013, Winston-Salem, NC — The Dig.Drop.Done flower bulb education campaign is joining forces with Habitat for Humanity to "Plant Happiness."

Dig.Drop.Done will donate $100,000 to support Habitat's home building programs in Canada and the United States as part of a one-year international partnership that began on July 1 and runs through June 30, 2014.

"Habitat has been mindful about not only the care of the home, but also the care of the exterior – the landscaping as well," said Lysa Ratliff, senior director of corporate programs for Habitat for Humanity International. "In addition to funding, this partnership offers wonderful opportunities for new Habitat homeowners to enhance their home exteriors and beautify communities. We are grateful for Dig.Drop.Done's support."

In addition to the financial donation, Dig.Drop.Done members and retailers may help "Plant Happiness" by donating flower bulbs to their local Habitat affiliates and joining planting events.

The first planting event was held in Winston-Salem, N.C., last fall. Volunteers gathered to plant tulips, daffodils and crocus on the lawn of a new Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County home owner.

"Home and gardening go hand-in-hand, making a partnership with a top 10 U.S. homebuilder a natural fit for Dig.Drop.Done," said Henk Westerhof, spokesperson for the Dig.Drop.Done Foundation. "We're proud to help families become homeowners and experience the joy and inspiration that flower bulbs bring to life."

Dig.Drop.Done will promote the "Plant Happiness" initiative with Habitat for Humanity through national advertising, public relations and social media.
