Canada is back for a third year at the world’s largest fresh produce trade show, Fruit Logistica.

With at least 20 Canadian companies, growers and trade organizations under the Canadian pavilion, the delegation is expected to join approximately 80,000 visitors from 130 countries in Berlin, Germany from February 6 to 8, 2019.

“Provinces and associations who took part in 2017 and 2018 have been grateful for a Canada presence as it gives them a platform to meet new clients, [maintain] relationships with current contacts, and, importantly [meet] collectively as Canada with a strong [Canadian] brand to compete at the world’s largest trade show,” says international trade expert Richie Santosdiaz.

Sue Lewis of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA), agrees, “Promoting international trade and investment with foreign markets is a priority for the Canadian produce sector. As an association representing over 860 member companies doing business in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, CPMA sees the Fruit Logistica show as an important opportunity to engage with current and potential foreign trading partners.” Other delegates in attendance includes the provinces of British Columbia (BC), the Fruit & Vegetable Resolution Dispute Company (FVRDC) and Air Canada Cargo (official sponsor of the Canadian pavilion lounge).

According to Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (AAFC), Canada exported $1.8 billion CAD ($1.36 billion USD) in vegetables (comprising of field vegetables, greenhouse vegetables, and mushrooms) in 2017.
