BloomaPalooza cancelled

July 4, 2013  By Canadian Garden Centre & Nursery

July 4, 2013, Lichtfield, MI — Organizers have cancelled BloomaPalooza 2013 due to low registration.

The event, organized by GIE Media Inc., C. Raker & Sons and Hort Couture, was scheduled to run Aug. 1 to 3 at the Raker Trial Gardens in Lichtfield, Mich.

"Our BloomaPalooza concept was created as an innovative opportunity to connect plant breeders and retailers in a one-of-a-kind business format, but business uncertainty – resulting from weather conditions that have delayed the retail season in many areas of the country – resulted in low pre-registration numbers," said Jim Monroe of Hort Couture.

"The team put together a superb education and music program with the intention of bringing all levels of the supply chain together in an exciting, high-energy environment, but at this point one month away from the event, we just don't have the attendee numbers that will deliver the value we've promised our exhibitor and sponsor customers that are the major financial backers of BloomaPalooza," said Richard Foster, GIE Media chairman.

"To show our appreciation for those who supported and showed enthusiasm for this event, we are dedicating the BloomaPalooza dates, Aug. 1 to 3, to independent garden centre retailers, and will feature special hosting and programs for visitors to the Raker Trial Gardens on those days," said Gerry Raker of C. Raker & Sons.

Organizers say all BloomaPalooza attendees, exhibitors and sponsors will receive refunds in the next 30 days.
